ŧ Biography / Interview:

So, can you introduce to us? Name (nickname), age, school, work, bike, sponsors, the best results …
My name is Pavel Caha ("Cahin"). I am twenty years old. I live in a shall town Otrokovice near Zlín. When I am not with my girlfriend Kate or I donīt jump on dirts, I go to work to play with the electricity. My sponsors are KHE bikes and MeatFly. And my first race with 20 inch bike was my best result. But I will talk about it once more.
You donīt ride with freestyle bike long time. You rode with 26 inch bike before this. How did you get to the dirt jump on the MTB?
At first I rode in the forest, then I joined people, who started to built the jumps in our town and rode the bicross track. I was about fourteen years old. So, I tried my first slaloms race in Želechovice (near Zlín too) and I rode for local team one season. Afterwards the enthusiasm was away and I almost came off it. Fortunately, the boys find the very good place and the clay, where the jumps could arise. I started to jump there. I couldnīt stop and now itīs three years from this time.
What your beginnings were? What you tried at first? And how did it go?
My first trick was the no foot, I did it everywhere and I added the hand, following the table top and x-up! Next we enlarged the jumps, I learned more and I tried to join different things.
What was the progress of your riding, tricks, etc.?
Always I tried and I am trying to learn to do the tricks properly. So then, I have fot food feeling of this. So for it, I am riding the bike all the time and improving the tricks.
And why you passed to 20 inch bike? It suits you better? Or the popularity of the 20 inch bike is the reason?
Itīs easy! When I rode 26 inch bike, and I donīt think wrong, nobody came with offer of giwing the materials and the promotion. Saša Rovný offered me 20 inch bike after the race in Lety. I want to try everything, so I tried it. The popularity, I think, is very good for every sport.
Do you think that dirt jump with the 26 inch bike is without chance to break? Simply, whatīs your own view of this after your passing to 20 inch bike? Would you recommend this to the others?
I think, the 26 inch bike will get the chance, it depends on time. Iīd like to participate the race od dirt jump only for the 26 inch bike. I advise everybody to try both of them and see what suits better. Both bikes are on the same level for me.
Can you compare these two bikes, whatīs the same, the different?
The advantage of the 20 inch bike is firmness of its parts. The bigger one is dead after some falls. The smaller one is more manageable in the air. The pedalling is common for both. There is no change…
And what about your sponsors? What do you get from them and what you must do for good cooperation?
I started to jump for team TBB MaetFly for the sake of my friend Pepa Spácil from Brno. I get the clothes from MeatFly and the equipment nd bike from KHE-bikes. The cooperation works very good. Itīs necessary to do good photos and to be visible in race, of course, to be good.
Which tricks do you prefer?
Of course, my best tricks are my favourite: nofootcancan and nothing. Just I got the new 20 inch bike, I learned superman finally. This trick is also popular with me now.
Do you train some new trick?
I want to learn everything. I still try to turn 360, but I still make many mistakes. Sometime I attempt the barspin. Itīs important to try the tricks round and round.
Where you can ride and jump in your town? Are there good conditions for jumping with bikes?
I built some jumps about 500 metres from my home. There are no many, but they are rather big and I built to suit me. One is exceptional, I learn on it the best.
Are you first of all dirt jumper? Or did you try street or mini, etc.?
The clay is the best for me. I ride the style, which is possible in our town. Sometime we try some streets or some manuals. But itīs only for fun.
What can you say about your local freestyle scene? Do you ride altogether? Are you good company? Do you support one another?
Only about three boys ride with me regularly. Sometime somebody goes to us. And we take something like jam, also with music in summer. And we start to shout and support one another. We ride as long as we are not dead. But I thind it should be better. The more people, the better!
Do you observe czech freestyle scene? Whatīs your opinion about itīs level?
The level wents up since my first race. The big jumps are built and the tricks are overcame either in street or on the ramps, and in the dirt jump style too from my point of view. I am really looking forward to the first cover hall with trails.
Can you evaluate the last season from the point of view of your results and the level of races?
I rode the 26 inch bike bigger part of season many races were divide into two categories for the 20 and the 26 inch bike. It was mean that there werenīt much prizes in category of the 26 inch bikes. But it was super all the same. I rode my first race with the 20 inch bike in Strašnice (suburb of Prague) MCR. I had started to jump with the 20 inch bike a week ago. I didnīt expect it. The jumps suited me and I was the second! I think the season was succesfull.
What are your plans of racing for this year?
Our plans are gigantic. I hope that it will go OK. I want to try every race in Dirt Jump what will take place in our country. I tried bicross with the 20 inch bike and it canīt be comparing with bigger one. So some bicross with smaler one …
Do you think that itīs good to race? How are you motivated for racing?
The races gave me much, first od all confidence for trying new jumps. I think, itīs very important. So, itīs very good for improving of every rider. The spectators, other riders, music and other matters about races are the motivation.
Do you intend to go abroad to ride there? Or have you ever been somewhere? Where you rood good?
I havenīt jumped abroad from the time being. I seeint, it changes this year certainly. I expect, there are better conditions and bigger competion. I think, you learn much more.
What do you do except riding, have you got any other interests? Other sports, culture, girls, parties, …?
I have got my darling Kate, I spen my free time with her. But I havenīt got much free time for her. And this is my apology for her. I like to poke in amplifiers and in other necesseries for good music, because I love good music. I like to go to parties mainly after races parties. I really enjoy them.
What are you doing in this time? There are not much opportunities to ride in winter.
I have to draw aside the snow and I ride. And when the weather is really horrible, I train, I go to parties or watch the films.
And now the last question: Your thanks, message for readers, …
Of course, I have to thank my parents for their support, my sponsors KHEbikes and MeatFly. And I want to send my greeting to Lukov, Brno, Olomouc and Želechovice… One slogan to the end: "DIG - RIDE - FUCK".

Thanks to Alexandr Rovny for interviewing Pavel.
