Info & tips from the professional BMXer:

By Thomas Göring

Do not buy a BMX that is heavier than 13kg. You will not have fun with a too heavy BMX. Especially as a beginner you can learn many tricks faster with a light BMX. Also, the braking performance of steel brakes often leaves much to be desired, so always make sure that the brakes are made of aluminum. The stem should have the measure 1 1/8" inch (28.6mm), these are due to the larger diameter more stable than 1" inch (25.4mm) shaft stems. Chainrings should have no more than 36 teeth. This is important for practicing tricks, when ramp and park driving so that you have enough space and do not sit up. I hope I could help you with my tips so that you really enjoy riding BMX!
